My Girl by Jack Jordan

I really do not know where to start with this one. My Girl is definitely a different type of thriller. I was slightly confused until it all went down in the story line! Here is the description of the book: Paige Dawson: the mother of a murdered child and wife to a dead man. She has nothing left to live for… until she finds her husband’s handgun hidden in their house. Why did Ryan need a gun? What did he know about their daughter’s death? Desperate for the truth, Paige begins to unearth her husband’s secrets. But she has no idea who she is up against, or that her life isn’t hers to gamble – she belongs to me. From the bestselling author of Anything for Her, Jack Jordan's My Girl is the new chilling thriller that you won't want to miss. Excerpt from the book: "The Lord will forgive me.' ' I won't. Even when I am dead.' She heard him cock the gun. I can truly understand the characters view on her life in this book. I am sure if I had some of the things that happened to her happen to me, I would be slightly nuts myself. There are a lot of dark and twisty moments in this book. I can almost always get an ideal of who done it, but with this one it was a shocker. I liked the way that the story line flowed, and the author has impeccable writing skills. Though I thought I got the description of bile so much that I could almost feel the bile rise in the back of my throat (Well played Jack Jordan, well played), Other than that minor detail, I really enjoyed this book. The fact that it had an ending that I did not see coming made me like it that much more. I guess my final thought is that while it was dark, twisted, and almost made me sick a time or two, if you are into thrillers and want a quick read I highly recommend reading this book. I will definitely check out this author's other book "Anything for Her." A big thanks to Netgalley, JJP, and Jack Jordan for the opportunity to receive a free copy for an unbiased review. I give this book 4/5 stars. Excerpt from the book: "The Lord will forgive me.' ' I won't. Even when I am dead.' She heard him cock the gun. Throw Away Girls- The Jaycee Wilder Series Book 1 by Jennifer Vaughn

" Good for you, Zoe. You are a warrior, and I salute your brave heart." White teeth flashed in a wide smile. His face was too young to be so evil. Zoe tasted metal and swallowed the blood that pooled near her tonsils. Did he want a response? Validation for his sick comment? Zoe said the only thing she wanted him to hear. "Fuck you." That is just a small amount of enjoyable readings you will endure throughout this book. I will have to admit that I received the e-copy of this book at 6 pm last night and finished it today at 2 pm. I was hooked from the first chapter. I like when an author gives just enough description that you can visualize the scene, but not so much description that your like "get on with it already." Jennifer Vaughn gives the right amount of description to make you feel as if your standing behind the characters watching it play out. She also makes it easy to relate to the characters and how they feel. I had many thoughts throughout this book; some were oh that's gross, I have figured it out, okay maybe I did not figure it out, and last, but not least Dangit, I knew it. Just when you think you figured it out, the author throws in a twist to make you second guess yourself. This is definitely a dark and twisted adventure you do not want to miss!! I wanted to say thank you to Netgalley and Waldorf for letting me enjoy this book for an unbiased review. I look forward to reading more of the Jaycee Wilder series!

Me Before You

It has been awhile since I was able actually to sit down and read a book. Having four children will decline your reading just a tad! I finally decided even if it meant reading late at night and losing a little sleep I was going to go back to doing what I loved.
My first choice of book was Me Before You. I had seen the trailer for the movie that is now out based on the book, so I decided why not. Me Before You in case, you're not aware of the book is written by Jojo Moyes. This book is the first book I have ever read by her, and in this novel, she did not disappoint. I thought that it started out a little slow but after a couple of pages I was hooked and could not put it down. I will try to do this with as little spoilers as I can. The book is based around Will Traynor and Louisa Clark.
Will was once a powerful business man who ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and is now wheelchair bound. Louisa has recently lost her job at a local coffee shop and is now seeking employment. This dilemma is where Louisa and Wills's path crosses. She is hired by Will's mother to be his caregiver. The story takes a turn when Louisa finds out the families secret plan for Wills future. She gets emotionally torn between what is right and wrong, and what decision she needs to make.
I will end by saying that this book is slightly heart-wrenching (so have some tissue close by if you're an emotional person), but it is beautifully written, and it is easy to relate to the characters. I look forward to reading more of Mrs. Moyes work in the future.

I am aware that there is a sequel to this book called "After You." I am currently in the decision process of rather I want to leave Louisa as she was at the end of the book or if my curiosity will get the best of me and see what the author has her doing. Decisions, Decisions!

Message in a Bottle

Ah Nicholas Sparks, first book I have read of his. I have seen most of the movies of the books but never decided to pick up one except this was a buddy read. So heck why not try it out. In this book a woman named Theresa goes on a journey to find a man who writes beautiful letters to his wife and places them in a bottle (hence the name of the book). What she finds is a man who loves deeply and is more than she could ever imagine a man to be. I enjoyed this book but it didn't quite end the way I would have liked but does any of his books ever? :)
So I give it a 4/5 stars

BloodFever #2 in the Fever series by Karen Moning

I read this book shortly after DarkFever just because the romance part is really keeping me guessing as rather or not the love interest I am counting on is what will happen. I sure hope my guess is correct because for some odd reason Jerricho catches your attention, maybe because he is so mysterious and you wonder who or what he actually is! I would definitely recommend this series to people who like the Fae world! I would rate this book 4/5 stars and can not wait to read the next in the series!

DarkFever by Karen Marie Moning

This is the first Karen Moning book I have read and it started a little slow but picked up quickly. The story is about MacKayla Lane. It starts out that her sister Alina was studing in Dublin and was found murdered in an alley. MacKayla whos is also called Mac, goes looking for answers and what she finds is mind boggling and her perfect world that she lived in once before gets turned upside down and nothing she ever imagined being real turns out to be exactly the things that go bump in the night!

I would give this book 3/5 stars
